ABOUT ME

"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants"

– Sir Isaac Newton

This profound quote serves as my personal and professional “north star.” It embodies my passion for mentoring and empowering others to reach their full potential in the same way that so many leaders have done for me.

Throughout my career I have had the privilege of spearheading many high-impact corporate initiatives, drawing upon my expertise in Strategic Planning, Inclusive Programming, DEI Leadership, Go-to-Market Strategy, and Integrated Marketing & Communications.

In my current role as Global Manager of Inclusion Programs, Communities, and Partnerships at Google, I build innovative workstreams that drive inclusion, belonging, and development which enables employees to bring their authentic selves and true talents forward.

I received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Miami University where I was named a four time USTFCCCA Division One All-Academic Athlete and broke a 59 year old school record for the men’s shot put (previously held by two-time Olympic gold medalist, Tom Jones.) In 2018 I received a Master of Communications degree from Northwestern University.

Beyond my professional life, I love watching sports and cheering on my hometown Chicago teams. I have an amazing family and am grateful to be married to my remarkable wife, whom I’ve known since middle school. During my downtime I enjoy trying new restaurants and vacationing with loved ones.

The lessons and support of those who came before me will forever be part of my success story, and I am driven by my pursuit of furthering what I call the “Rob Stein Empowerment Ripple Effect”, which is my mission to help others become the “giants” upon whose shoulders future generations will stand.

My first introduction to business came in highschool, when I attended a week-long entrepreneurship program for minority students at Wheaton College. I was instantly drawn to the concept of entrepreneurship and was even awarded the program’s two highest honors of Top Male Entrepreneur and Top Business Plan & Presentation. I didn’t know it at the time, but it was the start of a lifelong passion for entrepreneurship, supplier inclusion and development, and helping others achieve economic empowerment through business.

  • As a leader on Allstate’s Supplier Diversity team, I was blessed to design and lead the 10th anniversary of the Allstate’s Supplier Diversity Exchange, a landmark event that brought together diverse owned businesses to pitch and compete for corporate contracts.
  • Leveraging my experience working in corporate supplier diversity and development, as well as my expertise in strategic business communications and go to market strategy, I’ve consulted with entrepreneurs at various stages of the growth cycle and have helped them to grow their business successfully. (See Testimonials)
  • I proudly served for three years as a board member for Sunshine Enterprises, an organization dedicated to training and equipping entrepreneurs from under-invested Chicago neighborhoods. This work has helped create 150+ full time jobs, increase clients’ annual revenues by 77%, and secure $2M+ in business loans for local entrepreneurs.
  • I continue to actively seek out opportunities to partner with the best diverse owned suppliers to help bring new innovative ideas to the corporate inclusion and talent development programs I lead.

Feel free to reach out and I would be happy to connect you with my network of talented supplier diversity professionals and business development coaches.
